How to Make a Larger Shoe Size Fit
A pair of fashionable shoes can enhance your look and instantly draw attention to you, but if you wear ill-fitting shoes, no matter how fashionable they are, your feet may hurt, and you may end up with bunions and corns. If your feet got smaller due to weight loss, or if you've purchased shoes that are too big, there are ways to combat the slippage, friction, and irritation that can result. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Foot cushion inserts
- Friction relief strips
- Heel straps
- Cotton balls or paper tissue

1
Place foot cushion inserts into your shoes, under the balls of your feet. The cushions keep your feet from slipping and make the big shoes fit tighter.
-
2
Stick friction relief strips in the back of the shoes to fill up the space behind your heels. Layer multiple strips if one strip is not thick enough to fill in the space.

Hold strapless heels, pumps, or slip-ons in place with a heel strap. Heel straps look like shoe straps, but are transferable from one shoe to the other. Loop the heel strap around the heel of your shoe and tie it around your ankle to hold it in place. If needed, also use a foot cushion under the ball of your feet to keep the shoes from slipping.

Stuff the front of your shoe with cotton balls or paper tissue to fill up the excess space. Only do this if you wear the shoes for a short amount of time, because it inhibits the movement of your toes, which can irritate your feet and cause discomfort.

Tips & Warnings
Consult a shoe cobbler to see if there is anything he can do to adjust the size of the shoe.
Always try on shoes before purchasing them. Walk around in the store with the shoes on your feet. Go by the way the shoe fits on your feet, not by the shoe size.
Purchase shoes at the end of the day, because this is when your feet are at their largest; feet swell over the course of the day.
