FrostWire and µTorrent are two clients for downloading files using torrents. The clients connect to peers who have the files on their computers, and they download parts of the files from several peers simultaneously. Windows associates torrents with a particular program, as it does with all files. To set your computer to download using µTorrent rather than FrostWire, change the program that Windows uses to open the related torrent file.

Instructions

    • 1

Download and install µTorrent, if you haven't already.

    • 2

Right-click a torrent file on your computer. By default, your browser saves these files to you user directory's "Downloads" folder.

    • 3

Click "Properties." The file's "properties" window will open. The window will include a "FrostWire" icon, and will list "FrostWire" in the line marked "Opens with:."

    • 4

Click the button labeled "Change...," which is at the right end of the "Opens with:" line. A new "Open with" window will open.

    • 5

Click the µTorrent icon, which is in the window's "Recommended Programs" section.

    • 6

Click "OK." Your computer will now perform torrent downloads using µTorrent.
