How to Get to Chain 40 in Pokemon Diamond
In "Pokemon Diamond," a role-playing game available for the Nintendo DS, certain Pokemon known as "Shiny Pokemon" are incredibly rare. If you wish to make the search for a Shiny Pokemon easier, you can do so by making use of a pokeradar and create a "chain." Once you reach a chain of 40, your chances of catching a Shiny Pokemon drop from 1/8,192 to 1/200.

1
Walk into any large field of grass in the game, and use a repel. This keeps you from experiencing random Pokemon encounters.

Activate your pokeradar. You will see certain patches of grass move. Walk to one of the moving patches of grass to start a battle with a Pokemon.
-
-
3
Defeat or catch the Pokemon in battle by using the attacks of your own Pokemon. After winning the battle, you will see several more patches of grass move. Approach a patch of grass to get into another battle with the same type of Pokemon.

Continue battling and defeating Pokemon 40 times, to achieve a chain of 40. Your chances of encountering a Shiny Pokemon are now only 1 in 200.
