How to Build a Barbie Doll Case Stage Prop
Barbie dolls are popular toys that have made their way into the home of many children as well as on the stage. If you're putting on a play where one of the characters has a lot of Barbie dolls, then a Barbie Doll case can be an excellent stage prop to include in your production. There are a number of different types of Barbie Doll cases out there; determining which kind is appropriate for your character is the first step in any case's creation. Once you've figured out that important detail, creating a case is pretty painless.

1
Look up pictures of what Barbie doll cases from the time period of your play looked like. Barbie cases will often have the Barbie logo on the outside, as well as a picture of one of more of the dolls, or simply Barbie's face.
-
2
Paint the outside of your suitcase the color of the case you are trying to replicate. Pink is the most prevalent color used for Barbie cases.

3
Print out pictures of Barbies or Barbie's face and logo to paste on the outside of your suitcase. In general, the larger you can print these, the better. That way the logo can be seen by audience members throughout the auditorium.
-
4
Glue your Barbie logo and pictures onto the case the way they are in the picture that you found on the web.
-
5
Allow your case to dry, then give it a test drive in a rehearsal for your stage production.

Tips & Warnings
If your Barbie case doesn't need to open on stage, use a small cardboard box as the prop instead. Cardboard will be lighter and easier for your cast and crew to move around, as well as less expensive.
