How to Make Tangle Free Cables for Headphones

Headphone cables can easily become tangled

Headphone cables can easily get tangled when you place them in a bag or pocket. While you can certainly wrap your headphone cable around your music player or other device to keep it tangle free, that process can also sometimes damage your cables. Sewing a zipper sleeve around side of your headphones that can be zipped up when not in use will help you keep your headphones tangle-free without damaging your cable.

Things You'll Need

• Zipper
• Sewing machine

Instructions

1. Purchase a zipper the length of your headphone wire from the base where you plug it into your device to the earbud.

2. Fold the extra fabric attached to one side of the zipper over your headphone cable and pin. You want the space where your wire is to be as small as possible, so your zipper stays in place. Be careful not to pierce your headphone cable when pinning the fabric.

3. Sew a seam down the length of the zipper, securing your headphone cable inside.

4. Repeat the process for the other side of the zipper and headphones.

5. Zip your now tangle-free cables together, and pack your headphones away for the next time you need them!
