How to Make a Clay Pot Dog
Recycle a clay pot that you're no longer using to hold a plant into a charming dog-inspired craft. The craft will add a whimsical touch to your child's bedroom. Children can stretch their imaginations and use their artistic skills while designing the crafts to resemble their pets. The decorated plant pots will also make thoughtful animal-themed birthday party favors, as well as holiday and birthday gifts for dog-loving friends and family members.

1
Wash the clay pot with warm, soapy water to remove any dirt. Dry the pot with a paper towel or clean cloth.
-
2
Cover the outside of the clay pot with an acrylic paint color, such as black, brown or white, to resemble a pet dog, if desired. For example, paint the pot white, and create black spots to design a Dalmation-inspired craft. Allow the paint to thoroughly dry before continuing the craft project.

Paint the polystyrene ball with a coordinating color. Allow the paint to thoroughly dry.
-
4
Attach the polystyrene ball on top of the upside-down clay pot with craft glue to form the dog's head and body.
-
5
Cut the pipe cleaner in half. Loop each pipe cleaner half, and insert them into the top of the foam ball to create the dog's ears. Glue two small, plastic googly eyes to the ball. Draw the dog's nose, muzzle, mouth and whiskers with permanent markers.
