West Orange, N.J.-based T-Fal is known for inventing the nonstick frying pan in the 1950s. Since then, T-Fal has produced many other cookware collections, including pots, pans, skillets and woks. While T-Fal is best known for its nonstick cookware, it also produces full lines of stainless-steel cookware. Unlike stainless-steel cookware, nonstick cookware requires seasoning before first use. T-Fal’s nonstick woks should be seasoned prior to first use to prolong their life. Does this Spark an idea?

  • 1 Tbsp. cooking oil

Instructions

  1. Seasoning a Nonstick T-Fal Wok

    • 1

      Wash your nonstick T-Fal wok in warm soapy water, rinse and dry it with a soft cloth.

      Place your wok on your stovetop over low heat for 30 seconds to allow the wok to get warm. Remove the wok from the heat.

      Add 1 tbsp. of vegetable or canola oil into the center of the wok. Use a paper towel to spread the oil around its entire inside surface. Let the wok sit undisturbed overnight and then use it as early as the next morning.

      Season the pan in the manner described periodically, such as after running your wok through the dishwasher 10 times or after exposing it to extreme heat.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have a stainless-steel wok, you do not need to season it. Clean the wok gently in warm soapy water, rinse and dry it with a soft cloth. If your recipe calls for oil, add the amount required to complete your recipe.
