To block the view into a room for privacy or to hide an unattractive area, a curtain is a quick way to screen a doorway. Use a tension rod to hang a curtain in a doorway without damaging the frame. Curtain rods designed for shower stalls are strong and stable, but they are larger than standard curtain rods. 1
Measure the depth of the casing at the top of the curtain and the diameter of the end of the shower curtain rod. If the casing is not at least 1 inch longer than the diameter of the rod, remove the seam at the bottom of the casing with a seam ripper.

2
Fold down the top of the fabric to create a new pocket for the rod. The distance from the bottom edge of the folded fabric to the top of the curtain should be equal to the diameter of the end of the rod plus 1 1/4 inch.
