How to View an XML PPTX Slide
Beginning with version 2007, Microsoft PowerPoint and other Office productivity programs began using a more open XML format to create and save files. This resulted in new file extensions -- for example, the PPT file extension for PowerPoint became PPTX. While compatibility packs allow you to view the different file types in the different versions, Microsoft also has a PowerPoint view you can downloaded for free, if you do not have PowerPoint.
