How to Do Natural Subtle Makeup
Give the illusion of a natural face by strategically applying your makeup. This subtle style may seem simple to do, but it can be tricky, since women tend to want to see the results of a makeup application. Going subtle requires a lighter hand when applying everything from foundation to mascara. The trick is to create a flawless application that looks natural instead of something that looks unnatural, such as heavy eyeliner or blue eyelids. In addition to looking flawless, the subtle style complements any day or evening outfit ensemble. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Apply a concealer to your under-eye area with a concealer brush or with your ring finger. A brush or your ring finger will apply the least amount of pressure to the skin under the eye. Pat the concealer until it begins to blend into your skin.
-
2
Mix together 2 parts foundation with 1 part facial moisturizer or sunscreen. Dip a foundation brush in the mixture and apply to your skin using long strokes. Work around the eye area and along the jawline to blend the foundation into the skin. Another option is to use a tinted moisturizer in place of the foundation and moisturizer combination.

3
Sweep a neutral eye shadow along your eyelid that's one shade darker than your natural skin color. Choose a shadow that's either matte or has a tint of shimmer. Avoid shadows that glitter or shimmer unnaturally.
-
4
Apply two coats of brown or black mascara to your upper and lower lashes. Use a lash comb to separate lashes and avoid clumps from mascara.
-
5
Apply a cream-based blush to the apples of your cheeks. Women with fair or pale skin should apply a light rose to medium-rose shade and women with tan or darker skin should apply a peach shade. To apply the blush correctly, suck in your cheeks to reveal your cheekbones. Apply the blush to this area and work the blusher upwards toward your ears. Blend accordingly.

6
Sweep a bronzing powder over the blusher and along your T-zone. The T-zone is the upper bridge of your nose and just above your eyebrows. This will give you a natural glow.
-
7
Pat a small amount of clear gloss over your lips to give a subtle shine. The natural color of your lips will peek through the gloss.

Tips & Warnings
Eyeliner is optional. If you want a more defined eye, but still subtle, line the upper lash line with brown eyeliner.
Women with dark eyelashes can apply clear mascara instead of brown or black.
