A curtain could be hung on just one or both French doors.

Many people prefer a French door to a solid one because it allows natural light to filter in, but it doesn't offer much in the way of privacy. You can address this issue by covering the glass pane with a curtain. Covering your French door will hide its decorative elements. Use a tieback to group the center of the curtain together to reveal its ornamental panes and let in a little light. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Find the height and width of the glass panes on the French door with a measuring tape. You will need a curtain that is at least 2 inches taller and wider than the glass area.

    • 2

Create drill marks 2 inches above and below the glass pane. Place a mark in each corner, above or below, the pane.

    • 3

Connect the top-left and top-right drill marks with a straight line. Then use a level to make sure the line is even. Repeat the process for the bottom drill marks.

    • 4

Drill pilot holes into the center of each drill mark with a power hand drill.

    • 5

Position the screw holes in each rod mount over the pilot holes. Then secure the mounts into place with the included screws.

    • 6

Insert one curtain rod into the curtain's top rod pocket and the other into the bottom rod pocket.

    • 7

Insert the ends of each rod into the rod mounts secured to the door.
