How to Modify a Podcast That Is Already in iTunes

How to Modify a Podcast That Is Already in iTunes thumbnail
ITunes retrieves information about a podcast from an RSS feed.

The iTunes Store contains a directory of free podcasts, each of which is associated with a specific RSS feed. You can edit your podcast's RSS feed file to modify it’s details in the iTunes Store. The RSS feed file contains information about your podcast. Allow several days for iTunes to update your podcast’s details. A subscriber will see the updated details as soon as iTunes downloads new information from your feed to his computer.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your podcast’s RSS feed in a text editor. Right-click on the podcast in iTunes, then select "Copy Podcast URL."

    • 2

Replace the text between the "<title>" tags to change the title of your podcast.

    • 3

Enter new text between the “<itunes:summary>” and “</itunes:summary>” tags. If you don’t see the “<itunes:summary>” tags, replace the words between the “<description>” tags.

    • 4

Edit the name that appears between the “<itunes:author>” and ”</itunes:author>” tags to change the author of the podcast.

    • 5

Fill in a new URL in the “<itunes:image href="http://example.com/image.jpg" />” tag to update the image for your podcast.

    • 6

Change the email address associated with your podcast in between the “<itunes:email>” and ”</itunes:email>” tags.

    • 7

Change your podcast’s URL address below the “<channel>” tag, replacing “example.com/newFeed.rss” with the address of your new feed:

      <itunes:new-feed-url>http://example.com/newFeed.rss</itunes:new-feed-url>

    • 8

Save the RSS file. If it’s on a remote server, upload the edited XML file to the server.
