How to Make an IMG on VMWare

How to Make an IMG on VMWare thumbnail
Use IMG image files for virtual cross-platform environments.

Run the VMWare Player New Virtual Machine Wizard utility to create an IMG file that can store files, contain operating systems and run in a virtual environment. VMWare software creates VMDK files as the default image format. However, FLP and IMG file formats are standard for floppy images and also supported by VMWare. Use VMWare to create and run IMG type floppy images when another floppy image program is not available.
