How to Fix an OCX Error

OCX is an ActiveX control that gets installed with the Adobe Flash Player. This ActiveX control works with the Internet Explorer Web browser and other applications that use the Adobe Flash Player. However, a corrupt Adobe Flash Player installation can trigger a “Could not find the file flash.ocx” error. If this is the case, you must completely reinstall the Flash Player to resolve the issue.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to Adobe.com and download the Flash Player Uninstaller. Download the 64-bit version of the Flash Player Uninstaller if you are using a 64-bit operating system.

    • 2

Double-click the downloaded file to run the Flash Player Uninstaller.

    • 3

Click “Uninstall” to remove the Flash Player and all related components from your computer.

    • 4

Get to the Flash Player webpage on the Adobe website.

    • 5

Click the “Download Now” button to download the Flash Player Setup.

    • 6

Double-click the downloaded Flash Player Setup and click “Install.” The Flash Player Setup will now reinstall the Flash Player.
