How to Troubleshoot a Frigidaire Dehumidifier Not Continuously Draining

Amy Kingston

Frigidaire dehumidifiers remove moisture inside the home. It functions by pulling air across the dehumidifier coils, condensing moisture for collection into a bucket. The air released from the dehumidifier is warm and dry. A dehumidifier can be set up to drain continuously. If it does not drain continuously, you can troubleshoot the machine and easily repair it yourself.

Properly Set the Dehumidifier to Drain Continuously

Step 1

Remove the bucket on the dehumidifier and set it aside.

Step 2

Locate the side flap on the right side of the dehumidifier. Lift the flap up.

Step 3

Place the end of a garden hose with female threads into the opening beneath the flap. Screw the hose onto the threads on the tray beneath the opening for the bucket.

Step 4

Remove kinks in the hose and place the free end of the hose into a sink or drain.

Step 5

Replace the bucket and turn the dehumidifier on. Continuous draining will begin.

Dehumidifier Still Does Not Continuously Drain

Step 1

Check the “Bucket Full” indicator light on the control panel. If the light illuminates, the bucket is full. Remove the bucket and empty it.

Step 2

Disconnect the hose and inspect the seal between the hose and drip tray. If the seal appears damaged, grasp and pull the old seal to remove it. Insert a new seal and push it into place.

Step 3

Place the hose on the threads and turn it clockwise to tighten it.

Step 4

Replace the bucket and select the desired humidity setting and fan speed on the control panel. If the unit still does not drain continuously, call a qualified service technician to inspect the unit.
