All is not lost if you accidentally delete a video from your Flip camera; you can recover unsaved videos if they were saved to your computer before you deleted it. You cannot recover deleted videos from the camera itself after you delete them if you did not first upload them to your computer. After the video is on your computer, you can attempt a recovery if it is deleted.

      Open the recycling bin or trash can on your computer. After you delete a video, it usually ends up here before it is permanently erased.

      Observe the files in the recycling bin or trash can. If you find your video, double-click it. Save it with a new file name in a folder such as "Documents."

      Download and install file-recovery software, such as UndeleteMyFiles 2.9 or Wondershare (both offer trial versions). Open the software.

      Select your Flip Video camera -- which shows up us a separate drive -- and press the button for it. Your lost videos should appear on a list.

      Click the "Recover" button after your select a video. Specify a folder on your computer to which you wish to save it. Rename the file if need be. Repeat with every lost file you wish to recover.

      Restart the FlipShare program; the recovered files should be there.

Tips & Warnings

  • Sometimes upgrading your Flip camera's software may cause your videos to look as if they are deleted. Check your FlipShare Data Videos folder in case they were moved.

  • Make sure the recovery software is supported by your operating system.
