How to Make Honeycomb Candle Sheets

How to Make Honeycomb Candle Sheets thumbnail
Beeswax candles drip less than candles made from other wax.

Honeycomb-textured beeswax candles are long-lasting, burn well and are environmentally friendly. These candles can be expensive, however, which deters many people from using them. Making beeswax candles is not difficult when you purchase wax pellets sold at a hobby store or online. A local beekeeper may also have beeswax that you can use to create honeycomb-texture candles. Use a texture sheet designed for use with fondant to create the desired texture for the candles.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill the bottom half of the double boiler about halfway with water. Place the pellets into the top section of the boiler. Stack the top pot over the bottom pot.

    • 2

Set the stove to medium heat. Melt the beeswax until it is smooth and free of lumps. Stir the mixture about once a minute to avoid the wax from sticking to the sides of the pot.

    • 3

Place the honeycomb texture sheets into the jellyroll pan. Make sure the textured side faces up. Spray the surface of the texture sheets with cooking spray.

    • 4

Pour the wax over the texture sheets. Make the wax about 1/6 of an inch thick. Allow the wax to cool for two to five minutes until the wax is solid, but still pliable.

    • 5

Peel the wax off of the texture sheets. Roll the wax into the candle shape by hand. Make sure the textured side of the candles face outward. Place a wick in the center of the candle.
