How to Make a Pocket Sized Tissue Holder
Carry your tissues with you in style, by creating an attractive pocket-sized pouch from a favorite fabric. This pouch works well with travel-sized tissue packs that have an opening in the top; the pouch itself protects the tissue pack from tearing open in your pocket or purse, while making an attractive accessory from a utilitarian product. This craft requires very little fabric, so it is easy to make this from scraps, and minimal stitching is necessary, so this is a good project for a sewing novice.

Cut a 5 ½-by-8-inch rectangle from a piece of fabric. Lay the fabric right-side down on your work surface.

Fold in ¼-inch of fabric on each of the 5 ½-inch sides of the fabric. Fold over each edge a second time to enclose the raw edge of the fabric. Pin in place.

Sew the folds down to create two hemmed edges using the standard straight stitch on your machine. Back stitch at the beginning and end of each straight stitch to prevent the thread from pulling out of the hem.

Fold the hemmed edges inward over the fabric until they meet in the middle, right sides of the fabric touching. This creates an enclosed pouch with a slit down the center where the hemmed edges meet.

Sew along the two open edges of the fabric pouch, perpendicular to the slit in the center.

Trim the excess thread. Cut the corners to within 1/8-inch of the sewing line.

Turn the pouch right side out through the center slit, pushing out the corner. Slide a travel pack of tissue into the pouch through the slit. Pull the tissues through the slit as needed.

Sew the pouch by hand using a standard back stitch if you do not have access to a sewing machine.
