How to Connect Nook to Adobe Reader
Released in fall 2009 by Barnes & Noble, the Nook is a brand of e-reader based on the Android platform. Rather than using Adobe Reader for PDF-format books, the Nook utilizes Adobe Digital Editions, or ADE, software downloaded to the user’s computer, then synced to the device. Nooks use ADE instead of Adobe Reader because ADE is optimized for basic e-book reading. Install ADE onto your computer to transfer e-books to and from your reader.

1
Go to the Adobe Digital Editions page of the Adobe website. Click on the "Adobe Digital Editions Installer" button. A brief message appears, offering the option to either “Install” or “Cancel.” Click “Install."
-
2
Click “Yes" when a small window appears on the Adobe website page asking if you want to download and continue installation of ADE. A larger dialog box then appears on your computer's desktop, asking if you want to allow the installation. Click “Yes” once again. ADE launches as soon as installation is complete.

3
Create an Adobe ID. When asked if you want to authorize ADE on the computer you’re using, select “Yes.” Type in your email address and a password to complete your Adobe ID creation and the ADE program’s authorization.
-
4
Connect your Nook to your computer using the device’s USB cable. ADE automatically detects your device and prompts you to authorize it by entering your Adobe ID. Both ADE and the Nook device must be authorized to transfer e-books to and from the device. Your Nook is now connected to ADE — the e-book-optimized version of Adobe Reader.
