How to Make a Homemade Pendant Using an Amethyst
An amethyst is a brilliant member of the quartz family, mostly found in a sparkling violet color. The stone is said to protect its wearer against drunkenness, snake bites and insects. Amethyst is also a stone of friendship and trust worn by members of the clergy. Make a pendant from an amethyst stone and reap all of the benefits the stone has to offer. Hang the homemade pendant from a chain or rope that suits your tastes.

1
Cut two 12-inch pieces of wire with wire cutters. Cross the two wires at the center and twist them together using chain nose pliers.
-
2
Place the bottom of the stone at the center of where the two wires cross. Mold the wire around the bottom of the amethyst stone with your fingers.

3
Take the two loose wires on one side of the stone and wrap them around the side of the stone with chain nose pliers, creating a small hole with wire on one side of the stone. Repeat this process with the two pieces of wire on the other side of the stone. This creates a cradle that holds the stone in place and prevents it from falling out of the wire.
-
4
Take one of the wires from each side of the amethyst and twist them together around the front of the stone with the pliers. Repeat this process with the other two wires on the back of the stone.
-
5
Continue alternating between twisting wires on the sides of the stone with twisting wires on the front and back of the stone until you reach the top.
-
6
Take one wire from each side of the amethyst stone and stand it straight up on the top of the stone. Wrap one of the remaining wires around the bottom of the two wires that are standing straight up, trimming the edge when the wire gets short with wire cutters. Repeat this process with the second loose wire.
-
7
Grab the two wires that are standing straight up with a pair of chain nose pliers. Form a loop with the wires, tucking the extra wire into the space between the bottom of the wire and the top of the pendant. Trim the wire with wire cutters as necessary.

Tips & Warnings
Choose a wire type based on the color of the stone. Silver and copper colored wire work well with amethyst.
Use pliers to get more precision in twisting and looping the wire.
Wear safety glasses to avoid getting hit in the eyes with pieces of wire when cutting with wire cutters.
