How to Repair a Broken Screen on Your Dell Model E152FPC

The Dell E152FPc 15-inch LCD monitor will sometimes malfunction either by failing to display any images or by displaying images for a few minutes and then going black. Many users report these issues and have attempted several fixes. Sometimes the problem is resolved by unplugging the E152FPc, waiting for 30 to 60 minutes and then plugging it back in. Other users have found that updating their video card drivers fixes the issue. When these approaches fail, you must open the case of your E152FPc and troubleshoot.

Instructions

1. Loosen the retaining screws and remove the back cover.

2. Visually inspect the internal components. If you find a loose connection, try reseating it and reassembling your monitor. If you find signs of burned, corroded, cracked or broken components, it is probably best to dispose of the monitor.

3. Visually inspect the capacitors. If you find one or more that have turned dark or are bulging, you’ve likely found the source of the problem.

4. Test suspect capacitors with an ESR meter. Any capacitors that report high resistance will need to be replaced. The problem is that faulty capacitors interrupt the delivery of proper voltage to the transistors, which in turn cannot send an output signal to the display.

5. Remove faulty capacitors and replace them. You’ll find replacements at specialty electronics stores.
