      Unplug the dryer or remove the power supply at the circuit breaker or fuse. You should always make sure the appliance is completely switched off before you begin work.

      Move the dryer away from the wall so you can access the dryer vent connection. Pull the vent off the back of the appliance after flipping the metal or plastic clasp.

      Vacuum out any dust or lint balled up inside the venting. Use a brush if the lint is difficult to dislodge from the walls.

      Unplug the vent at the end attached to the wall and vacuum up and lint gathered at this end of the pipe. Brush off the inside of the plastic exhaust grille leading to the outside of your home.

      Reconnect the ducting and run the dryer on empty. Stand outside and place your hand over the exhaust grille; you should feel a steady stream of air when the piping is free of obstructions.
