How to Change Resolution With BackTrack VMware

VMware enables you to create an additional machine, or computer, to operate from within your existing machine. The application virtualizes, or creates "fake" copies of, computer hardware, then loads a new operating system into a separate, independent window. If you have a virtual machine running BackTrack, or BT, you can change the virtual monitor from within the operating system and reconfigure the resolution. To change the resolution with BackTrack in VMware, load the monitor settings from within BT's graphical user interface, or GUI.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to BackTrack through VMware. Input "startx," then press "Enter" to run BackTrack in graphical mode.

    • 2

Click "System." Point to "Preferences." Select "Monitors" from the list.

    • 3

Select a desired resolution from the "Resolution" drop-down menu. Don't choose a resolution larger than the highest resolution available on the host computer.

    • 4

Click "Apply" to change the screen resolution in BackTrack with VMware.
