How do I Unlock Boost Phones to Work With Nextel SIM Cards?

You can use a Nextel SIM card in your Boost Mobile phone.

Boost Mobile offers cellphones targeted toward the youth market. If you have a phone used on the Boost Mobile network, you can unlock the device and use a Nextel SIM card in the device. Boost Mobile and Nextel are compatible, as both use the iDEN network. In fact, Boost Mobile is a subsidiary of Sprint Nextel. To unlock the device, you need Boost phone's IMEI number.

Instructions

1. Remove the battery cover and battery from the back of your Boost Mobile phone. Write down the numbers written next to "IMEI." The IMEI code is necessary to obtain your unlock code from Boost Mobile.

2. Dial "611" and press "Send" to reach Boost Mobile customer service. Ask for your device unlock code. Be prepared to give the agent your IMEI code. If the agent is unable to give you the code, purchase an unlock code from an online provider. For example, you can buy the codes from Unlock to Talk, GSM Liberty and Cellfservices.

3. Insert the Nextel SIM card into the phone and power on the device. Enter the unlock code when you see "Enter Special Code." The phone will unlock and load the home screen.
