How to Make a Circle Scarf Out of Fabric
A circle scarf, sometimes known as an infinity scarf, is a scarf sewn in a complete circle. Because the fabric is folded and sewn along the lengthwise edge as well as the crosswise edge, there is no wrong side to the scarf -- only the right side of the scarf's fabric is visible. Because of this, the circle scarf can be worn in multiple ways. Choose your favorite fabric type, color and pattern when making your circle scarves. They also work well as gifts.

1
Wash 2 yards of fabric to preshrink. Dry the fabric and smooth out any wrinkles with a warm iron. Trim any frayed threads along the edges of the fabric with scissors.
-
2
Lay the fabric right side up on a flat work surface. Position the fabric with the 45-inch wide edges running vertically on either side with the longer edges on the top and bottom. Fold the fabric in half lengthwise with right sides together. The fabric should still be 2 yards long but only 22 1/2 inches wide. Pin together the two open lengthwise edges with straight pins.

3
Sew a 1/2-inch seam of straight stitches along the pinned edge of the fabric. Remove the pins before sewing over them to avoid breaking your machine's needle. Clip any loose threads. Iron the seam open.
-
4
Turn the fabric right-side out. Position it as before with the shorter edges running vertically on either side. Fold the left side of the scarf to the right side of the scarf. Roll the fabric as you fold it so that the right sides of the fabric are together. The fabric should form a circle with the wrong sides out.

5
Find the seams on the two open edges. Match the seams up and pin them together with a straight pin. Continue to pin around the open edges matching them as you go.
-
6
Sew a 1/2-inch seam around the pinned edges. Leave a 3- to 4-inch space open. Remove the pins as you sew. Clip any loose threads.
-
7
Turn the fabric right side out through the 3- to 4-inch opening. Fold the edges of the opening inward 1/2-inch. Pin the folded edges together.
-
8
Thread a sewing needle with thread that matches the fabric's color. Tie a knot in the end of the thread. Sew slip stitch along the opening to close it. Start the slip stitch by pushing the needle up through the backside of one of the folded edges. Pull the needle and thread through until the knot catches.
-
9
Sew through a few threads on the opposite folded fabric edge. Push the needle through 1/4 inch of fabric on the starting side and pull the needle and thread completely through. Repeat this stitch along the entire opening. Tie a knot in the thread and cut off the excess.
