How to Connect X8 in Flash Mode

Because next generation mobile devices generally aren't leaps ahead of their predecessors, most updates intended for newer devices can be run on older ones. However, the software might require some recoding. If you want to install a software modification or updated OS (Operating System) for a Sony Ericsson Xperia X8, you'll likely be required to put your handset into flash mode to install the modification.

Instructions

1. Press and hold the power button at the top of the Xperia X8 to power the unit off.

2. Remove the X8's storage card, if you have it inserted into the phone. Slide off the X8's battery cover, and then slide the memory card out of the card slot. Replace the battery cover.

3. Press and hold the "Back" button, while connecting the X8 to a computer via a mini USB cable. Continue to hold down the "Back" button until your phone is recognized by your application.

Tips & Warnings

• It's your right to flash and mod your phone, but keep in mind that you could void your warranty or damage the phone. Don't put your phone in Flash Mode until you're prompted by your application.
