How to Extract Vocals From a Song in Adobe Audition

Adobe Audition allows you to professionally edit soundtracks, including removing vocals. Removing vocals is often beneficial if you want a music track to play only the instrumentals. Extract vocals from a song using the editing and effects features of Adobe Audition.

Instructions

      Click “Start” located at the bottom left of the screen. Click “All Programs” and then click “Adobe Audition.”

      Click “File” from the top left of the Adobe Audition application window and then select “Open.” Click the music file of choice and click “Open.” The track will open in the center of the Adobe Audition program window.

      Click the “Fx” icon just above the track, under the Main tab.

      Click the arrow button located just under the Fx menu to the left of the track. A drop-down menu will appear.

      Click “Stereo Imagery” from the drop-down menu and then select “Center Channel Extractor.” The Effects window will launch.

      Click the drop-down to the right of Effect Preset and select “Vocal Remove.”

      Click the "Play" button located at the bottom of the track. The vocals have been removed, and only the instrumental of the track's background sound will play.
