How to Make a Layered Sig in GIMP
Use the free graphics design program GIMP to create a signature tag to go in your business emails. GIMP supports multiple layers within the same workbook, which means you can make a tag with overlapping text and designs. No one will have to know you made the tag yourself as opposed to outsourcing the design work. GIMP produces professional results at a price that is right.

Click "File" and "Open as Layer" to insert a pre-existing icon such as a company logo, if desired. The logo will be inserted as its own layer. Re-size the icon by clicking "Image" and "Scale Image." Re-position the icon within the sig tag by clicking the "Move Tool" in the main toolbox and double-clicking and dragging the icon to where you want it to sit.

Text boxes have transparent backgrounds, which makes layering multiple boxes overlapping one another feasible.
