Use a curling iron to create waves in your side ponytail.

Whether you are planning a day at the beach or a night on the town, a tousled side ponytail is a popular styling option for long hair. A variation of a classic ponytail, the side ponytail is worn with hair to one side of the head, typically in a low position so that loose hair falls down across your shoulder. Adding waves gives the ponytail a touch of glamour. And, while the style can be created at home in just a few minutes, it will look like you just stepped out of the salon. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Apply a small amount of mousse throughout your hair, then use a brush to smooth hair down.

    • 2

Use a wide-toothed comb to create a deep side part in your hair. Gather all of your hair to the side of your head that is opposite the part, then use an elastic hairband to secure it at a point just above your shoulder.

    • 3

Use a curling iron on 1-inch sections of the loose hair to create curls. Use a smaller curling iron for tighter waves and a larger one for looser curls.

    • 4

Finger comb the curls to create gentle waves, then spritz hair lightly with hairspray.
