How to Make Your Own Baby Shower Guest Pages

A baby shower guest book is both practical and sentimental.

A baby shower guest book is a perfect combination of practicality and sentimental value. Not only does it give you a list of attendees and gifts to help you write your thank you cards, but it gives you a keepsake you can look back on years after your child has grown up. Although you can just use a journal or notebook as a guest book, designing your own pages for the book lets you give your guests guidelines on what to write.

Things You'll Need

• Word processing software
• Colored ink
• Printer
• Paper

Instructions

1. Set your word processor's font to something whimsical and evocative of a child's handwriting, like Comic Sans, Quigley Wiggly, Croobie or Porky's. Use a relatively large size, such as 18-point, so the guests will have plenty of room to write. If you know the sex of your child, consider using blue or pink letters.

2. Double-space. Type "Name." If you don't want to provide lines for your guests to use, press "Enter" twice. If you do want to provide lines, click "Underline" and press "Tab" or the space bar until you reach the end of the line, then click "Underline" again and press "Enter."

3. Create fields for "Address" and "Gift" following the directions from Step 2. Leave at least two lines for the address. Add any other, more personal fields you wish to have in the guest book, like "Advice" or "Message for Baby."

4. Copy and paste the text three or four more times to fill the page. Although you can use clip art to fill in some blank spaces, a page with a huge picture and a tiny space for text will look silly.

5. Decorate the page with baby-themed clip art, putting the picture above or below the writing area or add a baby-themed border. If you'd prefer, insert pictures of your baby belly or your ultrasounds instead of using clip art.

6. Print up enough pages for the number of guests who will attend. Staple them together or take them to a print shop for binding.

Tips & Warnings

• Make sure your art and text show up against your background. For instance, if you are having a girl and are using plain white paper, pale pink images or text will not show up well. Print a preview page to make sure you can see everything before you print up your entire guest book.
