How to Decorate a Salon Window
A well-designed salon display window will create a welcoming and professional impression as people pass or enter the salon. Ideally, it will also inform potential customers about your salon's products and services. By painting the name of your store on the inside of the window and setting up an attractive display on the counter inside the window, you can attract new customers and give existing customers new ideas about how your salon can help them.
Things You'll Need
- Window cleaner
- Paper towels
- Letter stencils (8 to 24 inches tall)
- Salon-themed stencils (1 to 2 feet across)
- Masking tape
- Acrylic paint
- Paint sponge
- Cardboard boxes
- Gravel (optional)
- Satin cloth
- Hair product bottles
- Mannequin heads (optional)
- Wigs (optional)
Instructions

1
Clean the inside of the window thoroughly with glass cleaner and paper towels.
-
2
Attach stencils to the inside of the window with masking tape, placing them in reverse order so that they will read correctly when viewed from outside. Arrange the letter stencils to spell the name of your salon and, if desired, some of the main services or advantages you provide, such as "Walk-ins welcome."

-
3
Apply paint inside the stencils with a sponge. Allow the paint to dry thoroughly before removing the stencils.
-
4
Arrange cardboard boxes of various sizes in the display window attractively. One option is to stack three boxes, each rotated 45 degrees from the larger box beneath it. Another idea is to stack three boxes, smallest on top, with the rear corners aligned perfectly to create L-shaped ledges on the lower boxes. If necessary, put a few handfuls of gravel in each box to stabilize it. Tape the boxes to each other and the counter to keep them in place.
-
5
Drape satin fabric loosely over the boxes and the counter inside the display window. Arrange bottles of the hair products you sell on the boxes in an attractive display. If desired, place wigs demonstrating your most popular styles on mannequin heads in the display window.
