    • 2

Restore hard drive contents from a backup DVD by using "Samsung Recovery Solution." Perform this by opening the "Start" menu, navigating to "All Problems" > "Samsung" > "Samsung Recovery Solution" and clicking "Samsung Recovery Solution." Continue the process by clicking "Restore" and "Data Restore," selecting your backup from the list according to its description and clicking "Next." Click "Restart the System" when the restoration is complete.

    • 3

Run "Samsung Recovery Solution" to restore your computer to a previously saved point if you are unable to ameliorate the malfunction. Perform this by rebooting your computer, pressing the "F4" key when the boot screen appears and selecting either "Basic Restore" or "Complete Restore." The latter will delete your entire drive but definitely fixes all problems, while the former option will attempt to fix the problems without damaging your files.

    Troubleshooting Windows 7

    • 4

Reduce unwanted security confirmation windows by adjusting your User Account Control. Open the "Start" menu and navigate to "Control Panel" > "User Accounts and Family Protection" > "User Accounts" > "Change User Accounts Control Settings." Click on the bar in the center of the vertical notification bar and drag it to the bottom, then click "OK."

    • 5

Turn on Windows Firewall if you are concerned about network security threats and you do not have a third-party firewall. Open the "Start" menu, navigate to "Control Panel" > "Security" and click "Windows Firewall." Click "Turn Windows Firewall On," type your administrator password in the dialog box and click "OK."

    • 6

Reduce your screen resolution if you are having difficulty reading onscreen text. Open the "Start" menu, navigate to "Control Panel" > "Appearance and Personalization" and click "Adjust Screen Resolution." Click the drop-down list adjacent to the "Resolution" label and use the slider to select a smaller resolution. Click "Apply" and "Keep" to save the settings.

    Troubleshooting Display Problems

    • 7

Turn on the laptop's backlight display if the screen is too dark by pressing the "Fn" and "F5" keys. If it is still dark increase the brightness by pressing the "Fn" and "," keys.

    • 8

Ignore any screen blinking that occurs whenever you change the resolution, display device or power scheme as it merely means that the video driver is analyzing all connected video devices.

    • 9

Display the current screen image on an additional, externally connected monitor by pressing the "Fn" and "F4" keys.

    • 10

Modify your screen resolution to 800x600 if the taskbar does not display at the bottom of the screen when using an external projector.
