FLH Accutronix Forward Controls Instructions
If you own a Harley Davidson FLH model, it's fairly likely you'll want to add some custom parts at some point. There's a strong tradition of customizing these bikes, and their tough, modular construction lends itself well to the quick and easy swapping out of parts and components. A popular modification is to change the riding position with high, swept-back bars and foot controls pushed all the way forward. Companies like Accutronix make specially angled and adjusted control array for just this purpose.

1
Support the bike with cargo straps or a paddock stand and use the socket set to remove the kickstand from the frame. Use the socket set to remove the bolt under the left floorboard. Slide it off the mounting to give you access to the control mountings.
-
2
Paste some thread locking compound onto the Allen mounting bolts, and use them to the fit the 3/4-inch mounting plate to the frame bracket.
-
-
3
Replace the kickstand, bolting it to the mounting plate rather than its original lug on the frame, which will now be obstructed by the plate. Reach around the plate and push the footpeg bolt through from the back. Push the footpeg on and turn it clockwise to tighten it. Repeat this process to fit the shift lever to the control arm.
-
4
Connect the extender bar from the end of the shift control to the standard shift linkage. Use the crescent wrench to tighten the length adjustment until the shift control is at a comfortable position.
-
5
Move around to the right side of the bike and remove the floorboard. Remove the existing brake control and make a note of the master cylinder location. Fit the mounting plate as on the left side, and connect the brake control arm to the master cylinder. Fit the keeper bolt to hold everything together and slot the end cap over the top. Fit the footpeg onto the bolt. Turn the peg counterclockwise to tighten it.
-
6
Screw the brake pedal onto the control arm, and tighten it. Sit on the bike and operate all the pedals to check them for clearance.
