A modern flat-screen monitor

The Samsung B2330 is a high-end, 23-inch widescreen LCD monitor. As with all flat-screen monitors, even including those built into laptops or portable devices such as smartphones and tablet computers, the B2330 has what is called a native resolution. The native resolution is the default, optimal resolution that the monitor is designed to run at. Older CRT monitors, by contrast, are designed to run at a variety of resolutions with no particular one being optimal. For best results, you should always have your Samsung B2330 display its native resolution. Using it at any other resolution will make the display appear washed out and lower the quality of the display.

Instructions

    • 1

Ensure that the monitor is correctly plugged into the back of the computer in the graphics card monitor socket. The Samsung B2330 uses a DVI (digital visual interface) connection as do most modern flat screens.

    • 2

Start your computer and log into Windows. Under normal circumstances, the monitor should already be displaying the optimal resolution. You will be able to see this by the quality of the display. If it's not running at the optimal resolution, the display will appear to be distinctly low quality.

    • 3

Right-click on your desktop and click "Screen Resolution." Check the resolution which is displayed in the drop-down box beside "Resolution." It should display the word "recommended" beside it. The optimal resolution for the Samsung B2330 is 1920 x 1080 pixels. If this is not currently displayed in this box, select it. If this resolution is unavailable, move on to the next step.

Install the latest drivers for your graphics card. If the default resolution for your monitor is unavailable, it usually indicates a problem with your graphics card drivers. You can find the latest drivers from either Nvidia.com or Ati.com. Refer to your system specifications to find out which graphics card you have if you are unsure.
