How to Fix Unreadable Segments
Unreadable hard drive segments -- usually caused by viruses -- may cause your computer to crash without warning. It's a serious issue, because you won't be able to use your computer consistently due to its unreliable performance. The good news is that you still may be able to breathe a second life into your computer and have it working just as good as new.

Click the "Start" button, right-click the hard drive with unreadable segments, then click "Properties."

Click the "Tools" tab, then click "Check now" under "Error-checking."

Check "Automatically fix file system errors" for a fast scan, or check "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" for a more thorough scan. Alternatively, check both options to repair file and physical errors.

Click "Start" to begin the scan and repair process.
System Restore

Click the "Start" button to begin to run System Restore if segments are still unreadable.

Type "system restore" in the search box.

Click "System Restore" from the search results and follow the instructions in the wizard to select a restore point and complete the restoration process. Select a restore point for a time before issues with unreadable segments started to appear.

Switch or upgrade your antivirus software and run daily scans.
If you have time, select both the scan and repair options. It's worth it to enhance the reliability of your computer.
You may need to have administrative privileges to apply these steps, as you may be prompted to enter your password.
You might have to reinstall your OS if you continue to have problems. Be sure to back up your files first; however, some data may still be lost.
