Instructions

1
Measure the distance from the floor to your table top with a tape measure.
-
2
Measure the width of your table top on the side that you want to place the drape. Add 12 inches to this measurement, depending on how much sag you want in the drape, to get the width of your drape.
If the table is round, measure the entire circumference and add an extra 12 inches for every 6 feet.
-
-
3
Cut out a piece of fabric to match your measurements. Spread this fabric on the floor.
-
4
Starting at the top edge of the fabric, make horizontal pleated folds every 2 inches. This pleated fabric will resemble an accordion.
-
5
Pin the ends of the accordion bundle together on both sides with large safety pins.
-
6
Put a tablecloth that complements the drape onto the table. Push tablecloth clips onto the edges of the table to ensure that the tablecloth stays in place.
-
7
Pin the left side of the drape to the left front corner of the tablecloth with a safety pin.
-
8
Pin the other side of the drape to the right front corner of the tablecloth with a safety pin. Because of the extra width, the accordion shape will open up into curved swoops of fabric.
If you are draping a round table, pin the drape to the tablecloth at regular points around the table's circumference. The end of the drape should be pinned next to the beginning.
-
9
Adjust the swoops so that they are even, with no obvious twists or areas where fabric is bunched.
-
10
Repeat the draping process for additional sides of the table if desired.
-
11
Pin large decorative bows over the safety pins holding the drape in place to hide them. You also can use flowers or ribbon.

Tips & Warnings
If you are creating a long drape for long or circular tables, add extra width to your fabric for multiple drapes. Pin the fabric at regular intervals along the accordion shape, depending on how many swoops you want. Attach each of these to the tablecloth.
