How to Remove a Doorknob Plate Slot With No Screws
Over time, doorknobs become worn or loose, which prompts most homeowners to replace them. Doorknobs are generally known for their easy removal; however, many decorative varieties of doorknobs have hidden screws that hold the assembly in the door. To access these screws, you must remove both the knob and the cover plate. Once you remove these two items, this type of doorknob gets removed from the door the same way as a doorknob with visible screws. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Look on the side of the knob for a small slit. Hold the knob in one hand and a small flathead screwdriver in the other hand. Push the flathead screwdriver into the slit and pull the knob off the assembly.

2
Look around the cover plate's perimeter for a small gap between it and the door. Insert the small flathead screwdriver into the gap to pop the cover plate off the door. This exposes the screws that hold the rest of the assembly in place.

Turn the screws clockwise to tighten them and hold the doorknob assembly firmer to the door. Turn the screws counterclockwise to remove them and pull the assembly out of the door. If you plan to remove the entire assembly, you will also need to back out the two screws holding the latch plate to the door's edge.
