How to Put Dough in a Tart Pan
Tarts are a dessert that can be a popular addition to the menu for the holiday season. Successfully making a tart relies heavily on the dough and the placement of the dough in the tart pan. The transfer of the dough to the pan can make or break your dessert, in that neglecting to properly handle the dough can lead to uneven baking or even cracks or splits in the tart crust. Roll and work the dough into a smooth ball.

Press the dough into the center of the tart pan and gently press and maneuver it to cover the bottom of the pan and up the sides. In lieu of this method, you could also opt to roll the ball of tart dough out with a rolling pin prior to placing it into the tart pan. Once it is evenly spread out, drape the dough over the tart pan.

Gingerly press the dough into the creases of the pan where the bottom meets the sides.

Push the dough up into the creases and ridges in the sides of the tart pan with your hands.

Secure the dough in place on the side ridges by pressing the sides of a fork's prongs against the ridges. Use the fork to poke a few holes in the dough across the bottom of the tart pan as well.
