Squirrel control helps keep your yard healthy.

Squirrels are often destructive to a yard when their population is left unimpeded. Squirrels reproduce rapidly and some types dig extensively in the grass while looking for food and shelter. They also climb into bird feeders and empty them of seed. Baking soda helps kill off squirrels when mixed with other substances, and a baking-soda solution helps eliminate problem squirrels without causing damage to other animals or plants in the area. Always ensure, however, that getting rid of squirrels is legal in your area. Also, before eliminating the squirrel population in your yard, try more humane methods first to deter them; only use this solution if all else fails and you need to prevent them from destroying your property.

Step 1

Blend a half teacup of cold water with 1 tablespoon of gloss starch. Pour a half pint of boiling water over the gloss starch after that and stir it thoroughly to create a paste that the baking soda attaches to.

Step 2

Add 1 ounce of powdered strychnine to the paste and then include 1 ounce of the baking soda. Whip the mixture until it has an even consistency.

Step 3

Add 1 tablespoon of glycerine, a quarter pint of corn syrup and 1 teaspoon of saccharine.

Step 4

Blend this mixture with 20 quarts of oats so all the oats are covered evenly. This creates a poisoned food mixture that attracts squirrels specifically but is also lethal to them.

Step 5

Place 1 teaspoon in each area where you have a squirrel problem or set a teaspoon in a squirrel trap. The small amount is enough to kill squirrels without posing significant risk to other organisms.
