How to Resync the DAOS Catalog
IBM Lotus Domino is a powerful business database and storage software package for business use. It includes the exclusive Domino Attachment and Object Service (DAOS) feature, which stores attachments on a separate repository on the server where Domino is installed. This feature then indexes the attachments and removes any duplicates, so that multiple databases can efficiently share common attachments. The DAOS attachment catalog, which keeps the stored attachments organized and accessible, occasionally needs to be resynchronized, or updated. The resynchronization process takes new, renamed or removed databases into account. You can resync your DAOS catalog with a simple command line.

1
Bring up the Domino command prompt by entering the location and name of the sub-directory where you have installed Domino in an MS-DOS or Linux command prompt after entering the change directory command as necessary. For instance, if you have installed Domino on a sub-directory called Domino in your Program Files directory on your C: drive, you would enter: "cd\c:program files\domino" to bring up the Domino command prompt.
-
2
Launch the Domino Console via the Domino Server Controller by entering: "nserver.exe -jc" at the command prompt. Wait a few seconds for the Domino menu to appear on your screen.
-
-
3
Click "Status" in the Server menu as soon as the Domino menu appears on your screen. Click "Server console" in the "Status" menu once it appears.
-
4
Type "tell daosmgr resync" in the command text field on the console screen and wait a second or two for a confirmation message.
-
5
Allow the resync process to continue in the background while you use your server, as it can take several hours to complete. Note that Domino will not be able to remove duplicate attachments from the database while the process is being carried out.
