Instructions

    • 1

Moisturize. Gently blend a favorite lightweight moisturizer into your face, allowing it to absorb and dry before applying makeup. For days where you plan on prolonged sun exposure, apply a moisturizing sunscreen to protect your skin.

    • 2

Primer extends your makeup's staying power by creating a smooth, non-greasy base. Blend a layer of primer onto your skin before applying your foundation and concealer, especially focusing on any areas that are prone to smudging or oiliness. Eye primers are designed for the sensitive skin around your eyes. Pat the eye primer on your eyelid and at the corners of the eyes before applying makeup.

    • 3

Apply powder. A lightweight powder applied to your face keeps your other makeup in place and reduces the risk of smudging. For a sheer, natural look, use a translucent or lightly tinted powder.

    • 4

Apply waterproof eyeliner and mascara. Waterproof eye makeup stays on longer than everyday makeup and is more resistant to sweat, oiliness or other causes of fading and smudging. Liquid eyeliner is more fade-proof than pencil eyeliner.

    • 5

Use foundation and lip liner on your lips. To keep lipstick from fading throughout the day, apply a light layer of your usual foundation cream as a primer. Trace the outline of your lips in a lip liner that matches your lipstick or the natural shade of your lips. Apply your lipstick over the foundation base, staying inside the lip liner outline.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep blotting papers in your makeup bag or purse for easy touch ups throughout the day, cutting down on oiliness that causes smudging. For a touch up when you don't have blotting papers on hand, use paper towels. Gently blot your entire face, focusing on areas with excess moisture or oiliness. Press lightly to avoid smudging or removing color.

  • To keep your eye shadow fresh and bright, apply it over your favorite liquid eyeliner. Instead of covering your whole lid with shadow, draw a thick line of eyeliner and apply shadow over the line. This gives a hint of color that will last longer than plain eye shadow.

  • If your eye makeup smudges or shifts throughout the day, redistribute your eye shadow with your fingertip. Whether the color has settled in the crease of your eyelid or near the lash line, blend it to evenly cover the eyelid.
