How to Fix the ELD Circuit With a High Input
Honda vehicles have a unique automatic control over the vehicle's alternator. When presented with a high electrical load over two amperes, the malfunction indicator light commonly appears on the dash. Additionally, the fault code is present when a service technician or inspection agent tests the vehicle. This may prevent the vehicle from passing inspection, over a relatively meaningless code.
Instructions
-
-
1
Locate the 16-pin OBD-2 data port, which is found under the glove box in most Honda vehicles.
-
2
Flip open the protective cover on the port. Plug your OBD-2 tester into the port. Turn the tester on, then start the vehicle.
-
-
3
Examine the test meter. Look for P1169, corresponding to the "Label Circuit High Voltage" fault.
-
4
Clear the fault code from the vehicle by removing the negative battery wire for 30 seconds or more, using the ratchet and socket set. Re-attach the wire and start the vehicle. The code should be cleared, indicated by the MIL light disappearing from the dash cluster and subsequent testing at the port.

Tips & Warnings
If the fault has a known cause such as a high-powered car stereo, feel free to clear the code as needed. However, if it re-appears for no apparent reason on a repeated basis, it is wise to have the cause of the fault checked at a dealership or trusted service center.
