How to Adjust the Ignitor on a GE Profile Gas Cooktop

GE Profile gas stoves have an ignitor for each burner on the stove. The ignitor ignites a flame to heat the burner. You can adjust the ignitor to adjust the flame size, which will then adjust the temperature of the burner. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Ignite the burner by turning the control knob to “LITE.” A clicking noise signals that the burner is igniting. The clicking noise will continue while the knob remains set on "LITE."

    • 2

Allow the flame to form across the burner.

    • 3

Turn the control knob, while watching the flame, to adjust the ignitor level to a “High,” “Medium” or “Low” temperature. The knob can also be adjusted in-between the displayed temperatures. Turn the knob until the ignitor is adjusted to your desired flame size.

Tips & Warnings

  • The flame size should cover the bottom of your pan but the flames should never flow over the bottom and onto the sides of the pan.

  • When one burner control knob is set on "LITE," all of the additional burners will spark. Do not try to clean or remove any of the other burners during this time.
