Sewing a Foil Kite Together

Sewing a Foil Kite Together thumbnail
Repairing a foil kite is a relatively easy process.

Foil kites represent a relatively easy way for children to build their own kites. If your child has a rip in his foil kite, you can replace the foil on the kite and have it up and flying once again. When you replace the foil on the kite, you need to secure it to the crossbar with string. Using a sewing pattern can ensure that the foil is secure. You don’t have to be a crafts expert to repair your kite. You can do it yourself with little hassle.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the original foil from the kite and cut two sheets of foil that measure about 18 inches by 24 inches.

    • 2

Put the new foil sheets across the top of the kite and secure the sheets to the kite sides with clear tape.

    • 3

Use a pair of scissors to cut two holes parallel to the crossbar on the kite.

    • 4

Insert the thread into the first hole and feed it through the second hole. Use a sewing loop to make small knots along the crossbar.

    • 5

Cut the thread and make a final loop to hold the thread in place.
