How to Access the Web by a Satellite Receiver
You can access the Web with a satellite receiver only if your system provider includes Internet services and your have a subscription for such services. Some companies provide full Internet services via satellite without TV, some provide TV and Internet, and some only provide TV. If your satellite TV provider offers Internet service or uses an affiliate company, you must upgrade your contract and equipment to include it. If not, you must order new satellite Internet service. You can't simply plug a computer into your TV satellite receiver to access the Web.

Negotiate a service contract with a satellite Internet service provider or your satellite TV company. The price of a contract increases with the amount of time you spend on the Internet.

Satellites provide Internet service in isolated areas. Schedule a date and time for the service representative to install equipment at your premises. Most companies guarantee their installation services.

Use an Ethernet cable to connect your computer to the modem installed by the technician before he leaves. The company is responsible for ensuring that the connection works. Usually, your computer will sense the available Internet connection, but you may need to enter a code to access it. The installer should enter the code using your computer.

For satellite Internet service, your receiver must transmit signals to the satellite, usually requiring a larger dish. The service provider should install an appropriate dish.
Don't let the installation technician leave until you are satisfied with the connection and the service.
Don't attempt to install the equipment yourself unless your are an experienced satellite Internet technician and are familiar with the equipment.
A satellite TV company may advertise Internet programs on your TV, but you must have a computer connected to the Internet via a separate connection. You then connect your computer to the receiver. You don't receive the signal via the satellite receiver.
