How to Troubleshoot a GE Radiant Cooktop
The GE Radiant cooktop can suffer malfunctioning issues during its lifetime. Some may be user error, but other problems occur through the cooktop’s natural use. Check that electricity is getting to the cooktop if the heating elements won’t work. Go to the breaker box and see that the breaker that corresponds to your cooktop hasn’t been tripped. Check the controls if the surface elements still aren’t working.

If you have trouble turning the knob, it’s probably in the “Off” position. Push the knob in, and then turn it.

Consider changing your cookware if the cook times on you cooktop are slow or you have trouble maintaining a boil. Your cookware should be flat on the bottom and have the same diameter as the surface elements.

Cleaning the cooktop according to the guidelines presented in the cooktop’s use and care guide avoids scratches, stains or discoloring. Clean any minor spills off the cooktop as soon as possible using the included Cerma Bryte cleanser and a nonabrasive cloth or sponge. Wait until the cooktop cools for burnt-on spills. Scrape off the burned-on spills with a razor scraper, and then clean with Cerma Bryte cleanser.
