1. Keep the pine cones in a dry place, away from both water and water vapor. Artificially scented pine cones have a scented glaze over them that makes them fragrant, but water erodes the glaze.

2. Keep the pine cones away from heating vents or other hot areas of the house. Too much heat can cause the scented glaze to crack and crumble.
