Instructions

1. Paint the walls of the room in bold colors that lend to the rocker look. For example, black combined with hot pink or electric blue strikes the proper tone. Paint two walls black and two walls hot pink, or create zebra stripes or cheetah spots with electric blue and black.

2. Cover the floor with a shag area rug. Use an area rug in a solid color, such as black, white or a color that coordinates with the vibrant tones on the walls, for example.

3. Furnish the room with modern pieces. Black- or white-lacquered dressers and night tables with straight lines suit this style well. Highlight the bed with an oversized headboard upholstered with black leather or animal-print fabric. Create a seating area with beanbag chairs. 4. Add linens that tie into the rocker look. Cover a bed with an animal-print or crushed velvet comforter.
