How to Clean Burnished Brass

Regular brass is shiny, whereas burnished brass is not.

Burnished brass resembles antique brass, yet makers of burnished brass achieve the look by special polishing. When used for cabinet pulls, sink faucets or light fixtures, burnished brass has an antique look. When cleaning burnished brass, don’t use abrasive cleaners or pads. A little soap and water is all that is necessary to clean your burnished brass home decor items.

Things You'll Need

• Liquid dish soap
• Bucket
• Sponge
• Cloth

Instructions

1. Fill a bucket with warm water and add several squirts of mild liquid dish detergent.

2. Submerge a sponge in the soapy water and squeeze out excess water.

3. Scrub the brass with the soapy, wet sponge.

4. Rinse the brass with warm water. Remove all soapy residues.

5. Dry the brass with a soft towel.
