How to Make Tulle Skirts for Toddlers
Whether your little one loves to play princess or she is having a ballerina-themed birthday party, she will love a pretty tulle skirt in which to twirl around. Instead of purchasing one from the store, you can custom make a tulle skirt in the color and length you want for your toddler. Making the skirt is so simple that you only need just a few materials and no sewing machine is required.
Things You'll Need
- Elastic, 1/4-inch wide
- 4 yards to 5 yards of tulle, any colors
- Sharp sewing scissors

1
Measure your toddler's waist. You will need this to know how much elastic you will need.
-
2
Cut the elastic to the correct waist size and tie the ends together to form a loop.
-
-
3
Place the elastic around a wide book, which will make it easier to work with when attaching the tulle to it.
-
4
Lay the tulle flat and cut into 4-inch-wide strips using sharp scissors.
-
5
Decide how long you want the skirt to be, then double that amount and cut away the excess.
-
6
Gather two strips of tulle together and form a loop by holding the loose ends together.
-
7
Slip the looped end of the tulle underneath the elastic, then pull the loose ends you are holding over the elastic and through loop to form a secure knot. There should now be a knot on the elastic with the excess tulle hanging from it.

Repeat tying two strips together to the elastic in the same manner until the elastic band is full. Try the skirt on your toddler to make sure it fits the way you want it to.
